Hello Saunders County!
My name is Carleigh Olson-Uriguen, and I’m honored to introduce myself as the new Fair Manager of the Saunders County Fair.
My husband Daniel and I live in Wahoo with our son, Merrick. My parents, Angela and Steve Olson, also reside in Wahoo and have given many years of their time and talents to the Saunders County Amusement Association. Growing up around the fairgrounds and watching their commitment gave me an early appreciation for the collaboration and dedication that make this event possible each year.
Before stepping into this role, I served as Manager of Events at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium. That experience strengthened my passion for bringing large-scale events to life and creating meaningful experiences for families and communities. I’m excited to bring that perspective home and contribute to a tradition that impacts so many people.
Growing up, I was active in 4-H, participating in archery and static projects. My favorite memory from 4-H was going to state for “Shopping In Style,” and had the opportunity to walk in the fashion show. Looking back, I realize how my 4-H experiences shaped me, both personally and professionally.
Fair Week definitely brings out my guilty pleasures. I’ll play Veteran’s Bingo until I run out of quarters, wander the barns as if I am shopping for a furry friend, browse the 4-H projects to inspire my next DIY, and wander the carnival for nights on end with my son. Those are the moments that remind me why the fair is so special. It’s where family memories are made.
The Saunders County Fair thrives because of dedicated volunteers, supportive businesses, and families who return year after year. I’m grateful for the opportunity to help steward something that brings our community together and creates lasting memories for the next generation.
I look forward to seeing you at the Fair!
